Today, Kevin and I are excited to try Ben & Jerry's limited batch Marshmallow Sky. Priced at $4.89 at Meijer, this unique flavor hasn't been spotted anywhere else. We searched the app, and it seems to be exclusive to this location.
Flavor Description:
Marshmallow Sky is a delightful combination of marshmallow ice cream with marshmallow swirls, gobs of chocolate chip cookie dough, and chocolate chocolate chip cookie dough. The ice cream itself is a striking blue, reminiscent of a sky with clouds.
Scoop Shops vs. Pints:
Ben & Jerry's notes that some fantastic exclusive flavors are only available at their scoop shops. While we don't have a scoop shop in our area, Lexington could certainly support one. Typically, scoop shops are found in more touristy areas like Gatlinburg and Las Vegas.
Nutritional Information:
Each pint contains three servings, with 2/3 cup (132g) amounting to 340 calories. The entire pint is 1,020 calories, offering a full pint of ice cream.
Tasting Experience:
Upon opening the pint, the blue ice cream was immediately noticeable. The taste of the ice cream is a mix of marshmallow and vanilla. We encountered substantial chunks of cookie dough, which were pleasantly sugary and not mushy.
Cookie Dough Chunks:
The cookie dough chunks vary in size, with some being quite large. While Kevin usually finds large chunks problematic, preferring smaller pieces to enjoy with the ice cream, I enjoy the substantial pieces and tend to save them for last.
Final Thoughts:
Marshmallow Sky is enjoyable, but it doesn't stand out as a must-have flavor. The marshmallow ice cream is sweet, with a more vanilla-like taste, and the cookie dough pieces are delicious but can be a bit large. While we appreciate the chance to try it, we wouldn't be heartbroken if it remained a limited batch. With so many other flavors to choose from, this isn't one we'd insist on having all the time.
Conclusion:
Overall, Marshmallow Sky is a fun and tasty treat, but it doesn't rank among our top favorites from Ben & Jerry's. If you get the chance to try it, enjoy it, but don't worry if it doesn't become a regular offering.
